Denzil Monk

Denzil is a producer, writer, educationalist and cultural social entrepreneur. He has produced hundreds of short films, several longer ones, Web TV and social enterprise products and services for the education market.

Through a variety of jobs and companies, Denzil has secured and produced commissioned work for broadcast, web and dvd for numerous corporate, community and education clients. He has programmed and run rural touring film screenings, overseen the growth of Cornwall Film Festival over the last four years and was recently invited to be an international jury member at Busho international short film festival in Hungary. Several of his films have been shortlisted for national and international awards including The Freak: winner Best Silent Film, First Light Awards 2004.

Denzil has held leadership roles in many organisations including Chair of Penwith Environment Network (2001-02), Cornwall Media Resource (2002-03) Cornwall Film Festival (2006-09) and Fresh Media Collective (2008-09). He is a creative and collaborative leader who brings passion and perception his many endeavours. As an educationalist Denzil has designed courses in digital storytelling and filmmaking for KS4, FE and post-16 informal settings and occasionally lectures at University College Falmouth.

Denzil was born in Zennor Vicarage, in the far west of Cornwall on 30th October 1974, he hopes to return there one day.

 

Barbara Santi

Barbara is a documentary film maker using digital technology for social change. She's made docs for Channel 4 and Carlton TV and has shown her films on FourDocs, Current TV, The Community Channel, art galleries, conferences, film festival platforms and rural touring film screenings.   Primarily interested in directing/camera she has astute skills in getting projects funded and providing producer/funding consultation within the media sector.

Barbara is also a social media educator both with young people and community groups having worked extensively regionally and internationally.  She is interested in empowering people through the use of digital technology (video and photography) so ordinary people can tell their own stories.

Barbara's first professional job was at Working Title Films in London - then followed a number of freelance posts in companies such as BBC. Since moving to Cornwall in 1999, Barbara has worked with the public, private and educational sectors and has been part of the steering committee of Cornwall Media Focus since its inception. Barbara is a self shooter (producer/director/camera operator/editor) using a Sony Z1 HD camera and Final Cut Pro. www.barbarasanti.co.uk

 

Nick Harpley

Nick is an independent designer and consultant, musician and film director. He is happy working in a variety of media and formats, with a particular interest in structuring and designing websites for communities and networks. Nick is co-founder and chair of Digital Peninsula Network, co-chair of Cornwall Media Focus, and is on the committee of Penwith Film Socety.
