Creative documentary feature part of a 3-year heritage/media project

Exploring the stories of Trengwainton Garden past and present, this participatory project weaved together history and creativity, heritage and digital technology to celebrate horticulture and the Cornish environment.

From the prehistoric landscape that surrounds Trengwainton to the Victorian plant hunters and their exotic specimens to the current National Trust ownership of the approx. 25-acre garden, the project worked with volunteers, artists and specialists in their field to create an exhibition at The Exchange Gallery (2018), a bookcreative documentary film toured across Cornwall / Devon.

The book

Home of Springs, Trengwainton is a hard-backed, colour illustrated 204 page book. It is the culmination of three years of research, wokshops and creative activities at the beautiful Trengwainton Garden in Madron near Penzance. This immersive project has involved volunteers, schools, community groups and experts in their field to uncover the hidden stories of the people, plants and place.

The book focuses on contemporary oral histories, archive photographs, historical facts and gardening tips. It has been written collaboratively to celebrate Trengwainton's history and heritage.
